Cash Assistance To Employees Seriously Affected By Flood

DSC_8841Recently heavy rains trigger massive floods in Penang on 15 September 2017 and 4 November 2017.

Some of the employees’ house and properties had been seriously affected by the massive floods.

Electrical home appliances, furniture and fitting were destroy and damage by the floods. This flood have left great stigma in Penang people heart.

In order to ease our employees’ burden whom effected by flood, the Company has decided to give a token contribution to those effected:-

Penang Floods Contribution

Most parts of the island and the mainland were flooded while many roads were blocked by fallen trees and debris.

The company has immediately response by contribution in kind to the victims of floods.

Thanks to Michael Tan ( MPSP City Councilor ) for coordinating the contribution activities.

1st batch of contribution in kind has been dispatch on 6 Nov 2017 to Seberang Prai Utara Rescue and Distribution Centre.

2nd batch of contribution in kind has been dispatch on 7 Nov 2017 to Penang Island Rescue and Distribution Centre.

On 10 Nov 2017, Our sister company, Daviscomms (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.(2 unit), together with VXL Alliance Sdn. Bhd/VXL Logistics Holdings Sdn. Bhd. (1 unit), Phili-Orient Logistics (PG) Sdn. Bhd (1 unit), has collectively contributed 4 units of high pressure water pump accordingly.

Each value at RM1,325, total amounted to RM5,300.

Contribution for RMK11 MATAC Signing Ceremony

USG have contributed in kind for participants attending the Rancangan Malaysia Ke-11(RMK11) The Malaysian Textile and Apparel Centre(MATAC) signing ceremony on 12th October 2017.

Ergonomics Training

DSCN0722Ergonomics awareness and manual handling training at workplace was held on 6th – 7th October 2017 to employee’s representatives from each department’s at United Sweethearts Garment.

The objectives of the training are to get basic knowledge and understanding about ergonomics and manual handling. The participants able to identify ergonomic risk factors involving in working environment, get to know the hidden cost of ignoring ergonomic and risk assessments guidelines.

This is including the understanding of legal requirement, general duties of employers, and general duties of employees for the ergonomics.

ERGONOMICS means the laws of work. Any job must fit to the person and not the person fit to the work. ERGONOMICS can improve the productivity and product qualities with minimum injuries especially Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSD). Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders (WMSDs) are occupational disorders that involve soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints, blood vessels and nerves.

MWE Holding Annual General Meeting 2017

cofAnnual General Meeting of the MWE Holding had been conducted at No. 846, Jalan Besar, Sungai Bakap, 14200 Sungai Jawi, Pulau Pinang on 30 August, 2017 at 10.30am.

Amidst the uncertainty and challenging local and global economic environment, the Group continued to deliver commendable results for FY2017.

For the financial year under review, group’s revenue increased 7% from RM319.4 million to RM342.6 million, translating into an increase of RM23.2 million. The better results mainly derived from Textile Division.

The Group managed to turn around from the loss before tax of RM27.43 million for FY2016 to profit before tax of RM134.0 million for FY2017, owing to impairment write back for investment in associated as well as gain on disposal of US investment.

Fire Drill SB

A fire drill was conducted on Thursday 24th August 2017 at Sg Bakap Factory. The emergency system (fire alarm) was activated around 8:30am without notification except the Emergency Rescue Team (ERT) members. It was assumed that the cause of the fire at warehouse. The entire employee were evacuated through their nearest exits and gathered at emergency assembly point.

All ERT members monitored the situation and guide the workers to move fast towards assemble point via nearest exit door.

As soon as all employees dispersed and gathered at assemble point, all HODS update their respective departments’ headcounts to Safety Officer. Assume that one drill8person from cutting department was missing and with the help of Fire Fighting Team, lead by Mr Thanabalan, the victim was found unconscious at cutting walkaway. He was immediately brought to assemble area and given first aid as he was injured on his leg and hand.

The fire drill was conducted successfully to office and production area. The time keeper has recorded duration of 2 minutes when the last person stepped into the assemble area.

First Aid & CPR Training

DSCN0258First aid is the assistance given to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury, with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening, or to promote recovery.

It includes initial intervention in a serious condition prior to professional medical help being available, such as performing CPR while awaiting an ambulance, as well as the complete treatment of minor conditions, such as applying a plaster to a cut.

First Aid & CPR training was conducted at USG Sungai Bakap on 11th August 2017 by Malaysian Red Crescent .This training was customized for first aider of USG Sungai Bakap to refresh on essential knowledge and skill in basic life support skill such as CPR, managing different types of wounds & bleeding and technique of dressing and bandaging.

A simulation/mock-drill have been included in this program to accelerate participant’s understanding about managing an accident scene.

Our Managing Director Mr. Tang Chong Chin has been conferred with Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN) by Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Di Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas in conjunction with His Excellency’s 79th birthday on 27 July 2017.

The group and company, associations, colleague, business partner and friends collectively cheers with joyous brought by the special award.

Indeed, Dato’ Tang was conferred with Darjah Johan Negeri (DJN) by Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Di Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang, Tun Dato’ Seri Utama Dr. Haji Abdul Rahman Bin Haji Abbas in conjunction with His Excellency’s 76th birthday on 25 Sept 2014.
