Chemical Spillage and Clean-up Training

A Training – Chemical Spillage and Clean-up had been conducted on 21st and 22nd July 2017 at United Sweethearts Garment Sdn Bhd, Sungai Bakap. This training also as part of ISO 14001 EMS implementation.

The purpose of this program is to educate the participants on chemical risk to health and environment, related regulation, proper chemical handling, proper labeling and disposal.

The course takes the participants through the key tools of Incident / Accident prevention that are related to chemical mishandling and compliance to related legal requirements.

After attending this training, the participants understand;
1. Related legislation requirements, Factory and Machinery Act 1967, OSHA 1994, CLASS regulation and etc.
2. Understand chemical hazards and effect to our health and environmental.
3. Understand chemical symbols and labels (PICTOGRAMS).
4. Understand the Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
5. Chemical Spillage, Control and Response.
6. Chemical Spill kits and Clean-up.
7. Understand Schedule Waste, labeling and storage.
8. First Aid.

Fire Drill SP

A fire drill at USG factory was conducted on Monday 5th June 2017; fire alarm was activated around 5:30pm without notification except the ERT members. It was assumed that the cause of the fire at packing. The entire employee were evacuated through their nearest exits and gathered at emergency assembly point.

All ERT members monitored the situation and guide the workers to move fast towards assemble point via nearest exit door.

HOD’s update their respective departments’ headcount’s to the Fire Warden Chief, found that no injured recorded and all employees understand their role during fire alarm triggers.

The fire drill was conducted successfully to office and production area employeesDSCN9641. The time keeper has recorded duration of 2 minutes 30 seconds when the last person stepped into the assemble area.

The comprehensive and excitement of the exclusive interview has been published on internet by enanyang.com and hard copy dated 26th Apr and 07th May 2017 respectively.

Based on the past few year data, the Textile and Apparel (T&A) has been contributing about 1.2% of GDP.   The immediate past few year export data indicating to a very positive and bright future ahead.

Mr. Tang said the industries has gone through the infancy and growth phases and it is now under matured phase.

The industries shall focus on contemporary and modernization of management, technology advancement on automation to sustain and remain competitive in the global market.

He totally disagreed and rejected the mindset of textile industries as sunset industry. He opined that the textile and apparel industry shall survive forever with above mentioned strategies.

Introduction of MKMAmkmalogo
The Malaysian Knitting Manufacturers Association (MKMA) is a national textile trade association established in the year 1975. The primary objective is to encourage, promote and protect the interests of the knitters and related textile manufacturers.

MKMA membership is drawn from all sectors of textile and apparel industry covering the spinning, knitting, printing, dyeing & finishing , garment manufacturing and related suppliers including accessories, dyestuffs and machinery operating in 8 states of the country.   Membership also extends to associate members internationally.

Mission:
* To increase the global competitiveness of the industry
* To upgrade the quality of textile products
* To explore and create market opportunities for members
* To deal with problems on an industry-wide basis.

Contribution for Enactus USM Four22 Project

USMLogoEnactus Universiti Sains Malaysia (Enactus USM) is a non-profit organization that focuses on community development by adding entrepreneurship element into the transformation. Four22 is a social project established by Enactus Universiti Sains Malaysia since June 2016 with the objective to raise public awareness on the importance of upcycling.
IMG_20170412_105235Project name Four22 signifies Earth Day which falls on 22nd April annually. Its main aim is to inspire, motivate and ignite passion among single mothers into taking action on preserving our environment while empowering themselves in society.

Through this meaningful project, single mothers will be trained to transform used cloth, vinyl and tarpaulin banners into eco-friendly bags as well as improving their income through profits. In supporting this project, USG have generously contributed 2 sewing machines for the House of Hope. (Lorong Sempadan 2, Taman Rifle, 11400 Ayer Itam, Penang)

The machines contributed are:-

2. Juki 2 needle 4 thread Overlock Machine

EMS Day

After “Towards ISO 14001″ event officially launched. EMS Committee successfully organized another event called “EMS Day” at both SP factory and SB factory on 11th April 2017 and 20th April 2017 respectively.

This is full day event where all USG employees were participated.

The EMS video “Our Earth Is Sick“ presentation, Recycle Idea Competition and few booths was setup by all the EMS committee members to provide briefing and awareness to all employees.

This is another milestone to USG towards international standard, ISO 14001 certification and commitment from management.

USG always has given a top priority to all Environmental Safety and Health matters.

This is another milestone to USG towards international standard for Environmental Management Systems, ISO 14001 certification.

USG always given a top priority to all Environmental Safety and Health related matter and give full commitment to continues improve the organization environmental, sustainability and operational performance.

2017 Year of Rooster “鸡年行大运,人人有转机”

31st January 2017(Tuesday), was the first working day after Lunar New Year 2017 holiday break.

As usual, we welcome Lion Dancers perform the traditional custom of “chai ching” (采青) in the morning.

All employee were excited and mostly were busy with taking video and photo when the lion dance was performed.

Some were enjoying taking selfie picture with colleagues in this special day.

All staff and worker were treated with free lunch on that day.

Gathering Dinner at E&O Hotel Penang

As to appreciate staffs contribution for the company, United Sweethearts Garment was organized a buffet dinner on 22nd Jan 2017 at E&O Hotel Penang for all staff to enjoy a wonderful dinner together.
