On 19th January 2017, USV put in one of the most remarkable feat ever. Why? Because we prepared, cooked, set up, organized and served dinner to all our 1200 employees…. Without engaging the services of food carters. What a day to remember.

It all started on 11th January 2017 during our HOD meeting when Ms Chua agreed to hold our Annual Dinner in our factory premises. With only 8 days to plan and prepare for the big event (and with no previous experiences), every one was anxious and excited.

We held meetings ( 5 meetings to be exact) and every single department was involved. The commitment, co-operation and enthusiasm were electrifying. Every one gave their best and the end result was evident.

Hungry Ghost Festival

The Hungry Ghost Festival is held in China and Vietnam by Buddhists and Taoists on the 15th night of the seventh lunar month (also called Ghost Month). It is also known as the Mid-July Festival, the Ghost Festival, and the Ullambana Festival of Buddhism. Legend has it that on this 15th night of Ghost Month, the gates to hell as well as heaven are left open, permitting the dead into the world to enjoy a delicious meal. Some of the traditions tied to this festival include praying for pain relief for those on the other side, leaving shoes out for the spirits to use,  and placing lit lanterns on the river and on the roads to light the way for the spirits to follow.

Most of the Chinese or Vietnamese factory will celebrate this festival, activities during the month would include preparing ritualistic food offerings, burning incense, and burning joss paper, a papier-mâché form of material items such as clothes, gold and other fine goods for the visiting spirits of the ancestors.

Annual General Meeting of USV was held in-house (Meeting Venue: Thailand Room) on 31 Jan 2014 at 4:30pm to review 2013 performance and sharing new established department goals & objectives.

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is an important event as it gives our 150 production & office staffs, a broad overview of the organization’s current directions, financial expenses & health and confirms the level of customer satisfaction and cost of quality.

An annual General Meeting will assist our organization to:
Comply with government regulations
The legislation in Vietnam requires a business organization to hold an AGM.

Be transparent

Organizations need to be accountable to the public and to our company members. This is our opportunity to report on the results of our strategic plan. Did we achieve all our expected outcomes over the past year and what we do we plan to do in the next as a result.

Communicate with members

The AGM provides a good opportunity for the management to interact with the down line support members – to answer their questions and seek their views. Ordinary members are able to raise their concerns and participate.
