Fire Drill Evacuation

A fire alarm was triggered without notification at 8.33am on 22nd Dec 2016 except the ESH members, it was assumed that the causes of fire at cutting department.

All employees were evacuated by their nearest exit and assemble at the point on time (2 minutes 50 sec). All HOD updates their respective departments’ headcounts immediately and no missing person was reported.

ERT team played a good role and team work during the drill.

All HOD done a good job to ensure all employees evacuate from the building as fast as possible and update the attendance. All employees gives a very good support and evacuate the building immediately.

Offline checked with all HODS after the drill, all fire alarms is working fine and can hear clearly.

MKMA Knitters up in arms over Bank Negara’s new forex policy

Malaysian Knitting Manufacturers Association (MKMA) expressed its total disappointment and strong objection in response to BNM’s Governor new instructions on Forex Policy which took effect from Monday, ie 05th Dec 2016.

The Malaysian Knitting Manufacturers Association (MKMA) on Tuesday expressed what it termed as its “total disappointment” and “strong objection” to Bank Negara Malaysia’s new foreign exchange (forex) measures that kicked in on Monday. It said in a statement that the central bank’s move has “disturbed the good deed” of all manufacturers with overseas operations.

The requirement to compel the exporter to immediately convert 75% of the Sales Proceed into Ringgit Malaysia (RM) and reserve 25% into Foreign Currency came in as shock, unexpected and without consultation and discussion with private sector.

MKMA object such an unfriendly rule and urge BNM to withdraw the implementation until full consultation with private sector is being carry out.

Sponsorship for “Bukit Mertajam Charity Ride 2.0”

Kelab Berbasikal Bukit Mertajam (Penang) was organized a bicycle charity ride at 7:30am on 13th November 2016, venue at Stadium MPSP Bukit Mertajam.

This activity which known as “Bukit Mertajam Charity Ride 2.0” was to raise charitable funds to orphanages, nursing homes, and school.

Objective of the club is to promote green environmental movement, and enhance the charitable love of the world.

USG had generously sponsored 260pcs of long pants to support the event. The pants will be given to the selected students of 13units primary school confirmed by the event organizer.

Penang Open Snooker Championship 2016

pic0Penang Open Snooker Championship 2016 was organized from 19th until 29th October 2016 at Top Speed Snooker Sport Centre, by Penang Billiards & Snooker Association (New).

United Sweethearts Garment Sdn Bhd had sponsored RM3,000 for supporting the championship event and the association’s operation costs.

Congrats to all the winners!

The Champion is Mr. Thanawat, from Thailand, won with Award RM10,000. The Second Runner Up is Mr. Sebastian H’ng from Malaysia (Penangite), won with Award RM5,000.

Basic Fire Safety and Response Training

USG_Penang 010Basic Fire Safety and Response training was held at Balai Bomba Simpang Empat for 3 days on 5th October 2016 till 7th October 2016.

Total 40 participants from both SP factory and SB factory had successfully completed their training.

Each of them was recognized with a certificate issued by Jabatan BOMBA and Penyelamat Malaysia (JBPM).

A lot of activities had been carried out and a lot of knowledge and skills has been gain by participants on the fire safety, fire equipment’s and response procedures.

ESH Blood Donation Sungai Bakap

On 9th September 2016, the ESH committee of USG Sg. Bakap has successfully organized blood donations drive to blood bank of Hospital Seberang Jaya and total 74 of our staff successfully donated the blood. Beside blood donation, there is “Health Talk” conducted by Dr. Nurul Iman from Pusat Kesihatan Seberang Perai Selatan.

The objectives of this program are to raise employees’ awareness of the importance of the blood donation to save life. The “Health Talk” gives very good understanding varies type of non-communicable disease and important of our own healthcare.

Thank you to the management for their commitment and all ESH Committee members who provided full support and cooperation to the event.

MWE Holding Annual General Meeting 2016

DSC_5745ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING of the MWE Holding is held at the Company’s Registered Office at No.846, Jalan Besar, Sungai Bakap, 14200 Sungai Jawi, Pulau Pinang on Friday, 26 August 2016 at 10.30am.

DSC_5779This year is the first year that all the resolutions tabled at the meeting are resolved by way of POLLING. Since July 2016 onwards, all listed companies are now require to resolve all resolutions tabled at general meetings by way of POLLING, no longer by way of show of hands.

Some highlights for the Financial Performances:
The Group recorded revenue of RM313.2 million for the financial year ended 31 March 2016 against RM370.3 million achieved in the previous 15-month period ended 31 March 2015.

However, a loss before tax of RM27.3 million was registered for the financial year ended 31 March 2016 as compared to profit before tax of RM31.0 million recorded in the previous 15-month reporting period. This was primarily due to impairment losses amounting to RM59.4 million on investment in associated company and unquoted investment.

At the Company level, loss before tax was RM26.3 million as compared to profit before tax of RM132.9 million posted in the previous 15-month period ended 31 March 2015. The loss was mainly due to lower dividend income received from subsidiaries coupled with impairment losses.

CPR & Occupational First Aid Training 2016

First Aid is an immediate treatments for the victims that suffering from sudden illness or injury with care provided to preserve life, prevent the condition from worsening and promote recovery before regular medical aid obtained.

“CPR & Occupational First Aid” training was conducted on 19th & 20th August 2016 at USG, Sungai Bakap with 30 participants attended. The participants have learned how to manage in an emergency situation such as wound, fracture and chocking in theory and practical. Later, all the participants will be appointed to be First Aider in Emergency Response Team.

Sponsorship on Kangaroo Mother Care Program

USG had generously contributed 100pcs of Kangaroo Mother Care Pouch to the Neonatal Ward of Penang General Hospital for supporting the Kangaroo Mother Care program.

Kangaroo Mother Care is a method of care practiced on babies, usually on a preterm infant, where the infant is held skin-to-skin with his mother, father, or substitute caregiver.

On 27th July, 2016 at 11am, USG Director, Ms Goh, SR Admin & HR Manager, Ms Paru and URC Chairman, Ms Loh were visit to the Neonatal Ward of Penang General Hospital, to hand over the pouches to Dr. Foong.

Dr. Foong led them to the Neonatal Ward breastfeeding corner and explained the function of the pouch.

Dr. Foong is very grateful of USG’s contribution and express her thank you to us on behalf of preterm parents.
