A fire alarm was triggered without notification at 3.30pm except the ESH members, it was assumed that the causes of fire were the electrical cross circuiting at the Mechanic Room. All employees were evacuated by their nearest exit.
There was an fabricated fault and we have had purposely jamming the door lock, though the door could not be opened, there were some employees waited. ESH committee members has directed them to dispersed through other doors. We educate them to reach to the nearest exit and evacuated and do not attempted to fix the door if the lock is faulty.
All employees has dispersed and assembled and all Lines Supervisor have respectively reported the own manpower present for the day to the Fire Warden Chief, Mr. Aseri Bin Azizan. Later, one person was reported missing. The missing person is attached to the Metal Detection Section. With the assistance by the Fire Fighting Team leaded by Mr. Tanabalan, the victim was found stranded and he was brought to a safe area for treatment. He has suffered with some minor injury.
The fire drill evacuation was conducted on 16th December 2011 and the time keeper has recorded a duration of 2 min 15 second when the last person stepped into the assembly area. (The maximum time for any evacuation is 3 minutes).

2 Way Centre Reading Camp
2 Way Centre is a Consultation and Intervention Centre For Children and Adolescents. The 2 way centre organized a 2 days reading camp (10 and 11 November 2011) in Sri Pelita Inspire, for fun and reading activities to enhance reading skills in children and adolescents with a variety of educational needs.
United Sweethearts Garment Sdn Bhd sponsored RM500.00 for the reading camp. A total of 12 employees from the company had became volunteers to accompany the children and assist the 2 way centre educationists.

On 1st December 2011, ESH committee USG Sungai Petani headed by Mr. GYNg have successfully conducted the ESH Campaign where the blood donation drive was the main event for Year 2011.
Beside the blood donation campaign, the medical representatives from Klinik Kesihatan Bandar, Sungai Petani (Vector Control and PAP SMEAR Test) have accepted the invitation and their presence have make the campaign heavier felt by the employees.
The event was opened by Mr. CHAng (Vice Chairman of ESH Committee USG SP). All activities was carried out smoothly, the dengue prevention, pap smear were held at the canteen and the sick room respectively, whereas the blood donors were directed to assemble at the Packing Department in groups so as not to disrupt the rhythm of the production flow.
End of the day, the blood bank have registered a collection of 77 bags after their hard day work.

USG Sungai Bakap has successfully conducted Blood Donations Campaign, PAP Smear Test and Health Exhibition with the location at Packing Department.
We are appreciated that agencies such as Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia as Blood Bank Hospital Seberang Jaya and Pejabat Kesihatan Daerah Seberang Perai Selatan has give full cooperation and participate in the event.
The event was opening by EHS Chairman Ms. Goh Suat Bee and follow by giving some souvenir to the participated agencies.
There are total 62 successful donor out of 83 participants that registered.
Thank to all that parties involved in that event.

Basic Fire Safety Training
The training was held at Balai Bomba Sungai Bakap on 18/10/2011 till 20/10/2011. Total 36 participants had successfully completed their courses.

During the month of Kartik (late September and early October), Nepalese people celebrate the biggest festival of the year, Dashain.
Dashain is the longest and the most auspicious festival in the Nepalese annual calendar, celebrated by Nepalese of all caste and creed throughout the country. The fifteen days of celebration occurs during the bright lunar fortnight ending on the day of the full moon.
In preparation of Dashain, Nepalese employees in USG gathers to clean and beautifully decorated hostel, canteen and living rooms for worshipping goddess Durgato so that she will bless the place with good fortune.
In the tenth day, Vijaya Dashami, United Sweethearts Garment Sdn Bhd had called 6th October 2011 as off day to allow Nepalese employees celebrate this festival.
Nepalese employees wear new clothes, gather as well as pray to God or Durga the goddess of victory and as well as eat delicious foods. Younger employees take Tika and Jamara from the elders employees and receive their blessing. 
The Management Group of Nepalese Canteen C had organized a Vijaya Dasmi and Durga Pooja Prayer and invite all the staff to attend the prayer on 11.00am to 1.00pm.
After praying for Durga Pooja, the guests are served with Nepalese Foods. Chhatra Bahadur Darji and others also entertained the guest with Hindi Dance.

陈宗兴：免用贵水多付费老厂消防栓应有个别水表

(威南28日讯)为免用“贵”水，20年以上老工厂受促为厂内消防栓申请个别水表！
槟州供水机构子公司非执行董事陈宗兴今日说，槟城供水机构今年初已经落实新条规，将工厂内拥消防栓用水列入第三级水费计算率，即每公1000升1令吉52仙，因此，他促请州内20年以上的老工厂尽速为厂内消防栓申请个别水表，避免与工厂食用水表共用1个水表下，被逼支付昂贵的水费。
他是在今日接收到威南区大马纺织厂有限公司经理的投诉后召开记者会，这么指出。
他说，同样被列入第三等级水费计算率单位也包括临时建筑工程、洗衣店、制造冰块和食水、洗车店等等。而90年代后设置的工厂都已经拥有个别的消防栓水表，不会有问题。
“工厂食用水属于第二级税费计算率，每1000公升从66仙至1令吉27仙，而第三级水费计算则是每1000公升1令吉52仙，每月至少需支付10令吉。” 他指出，一旦厂商为消防栓申请个别水表后，将可获槟城供水机构通融6个月期限规划及装置水管等工程，在这期间该厂使用的水费将以第二级税费计算率。
没为消防栓申请个别水表 工厂万余元水费变3万.
一名厂商由于没为消防栓申请个别水表，7月份水费1万6877令吉，8月份竟飙升到3万1996令吉，厂家大跳脚，向巴当拉浪州议员陈宗兴投诉！
该厂生产部经理黄顺德指出，该工厂过去属于第2级收费率，月常水费通常是在1万5000令吉左右，上月16日收到槟州供水机构通知信，告知由于该厂拥有消防栓设施，已被列为第3级特别工业用水收费率。 “后来9月份接到8月份水费单时，发现水费竟飙升到3万1996令吉，询问下发现工厂食用水被列入第三级水费率，大吃一惊下，即向陈宗兴州议员求助。”
他说，在陈宗兴指示下，他们于9月10日致函向槟州供水机构陈情，并在9月21日获得该机构回复，条件是为消防栓个别申请水表，才可避免2种用水统计在第3级收费率。 在陈宗兴接洽下，当局也答应重新检讨该工厂8月份水费单，事件圆满解决。
檳供水機構擺烏龍 廠家接3萬元水費單

位於雙溪峇甲的大馬紡織廠家生產部經理黃順德和寶露求助陳宗興後，已糾正擺烏龍暴漲近一倍水費月結單。
（威南28日訊）坐落於雙溪峇甲區和逾40年歷史大馬紡織廠家，每月水費介於1萬至1萬6000令吉，但該廠在最新一期水費月結單，卻面臨高達3萬1000令吉付費。
該廠求助民聯議員查證後，才知是檳州供水機構擺烏龍，選用錯誤方程式來計算，並立即糾正這數額，廠家只需繳付正確水費。大馬紡織廠家生產部經理黃順德和人事部女經理寶露週三在巴當拉浪區州議員陳宗興記者會上，向媒體道出詳情。
選用錯誤方程式計算
黃順德表示，該廠在今年9月6日接到每月水費月結單，從介於1萬至1萬6000令吉，突然暴漲至3萬1000令吉。他代表廠家到檳州供水機構櫃檯服務員查詢，然而當局服務員告訴他，必須繳付這筆費用。
他說，他只好求助檳首長辦公室公共服務投訴局威省區主任陳宗興協助，才知道原來一些新廠商都有2個自來水錶，一個是用水量水錶，另一個是專屬消防栓用水量水錶。他表示，檳州供水機構普遍用水量計算法，即每月首2萬公升的收費為每公升是66仙，然而2萬至4萬公升為每公升收費89仙，超過4萬至6萬公升則每公升收費是1令吉15仙，另超過20萬公升為1令吉27仙。他說，至於消防栓用水量被列為特殊計算法，即每公升用水量都一貫徵收1令吉52仙。因此，他才曉得由於該廠沒有2個分為普通用水量和消防栓用水量水錶，所以檳州水供機構誤把該廠列為特殊計算法用水量，才搞出這種烏龍收費。
黃順德於今年9月10日寫信給檳州供水機構服務部門反映此事，同時要求當局給予6個月期限，申請增加消防栓水錶。當局了解實情後，在同月21日回函廠家，同意廠家的請求，並讓廠家只需繳付糾正後的合理收費。
吁廠家速申請2種不同水錶
也是檳州供水機構非執行董事的陳宗興表示，當局發現計算錯誤後，立刻糾正，這是光明磊落的服務態度。 他說，該機構更改方程式計算法，是在今年初落實。他相信可能是當局研究和改善技術問題，才延遲到現在，廠家才收到不同方程式計算法的水費月結單。

USG Water Fiesta At Bukit Merah
On 10-09-2011, as early as 7.00am, our employees has dressed up with their best attire waiting for the air-conditioned coach to ferry them from Sungai Bakap and Sungei Petani respectively. A fleet of 31 coaches headed to Bukit Merah Laketown as been itinerary.
Breakfast was served once they alighted from the tour coaches, our employees were having fun in the wave pool while they swim, some took the chair lift and some were strolling along to the Eco park, the animal show has been a good attraction with some having the snake and parrot on their hand and photograph were taken. The laketown is a great place for getting good photos and those photos will be a great memory to take back from the trip.
The organizers have the games planned for those who intended to participate and people never get tired of enjoying it. There were a lot sitting around at the pool with no commitment and nothing demands your attention and that’s great time to just hang out and daydream a little bit.
For each meal served, the URC members were marking employee’s wristband as identification irrespectively whether it is lunch or tea time, some were given extra package as there were excesses.
Others were spending time in browsing at the souvenir shops around the Laketown and negotiating for best price on the items that they liked.

Our Director, Ms. Goh Suat Bee led the URC members and our employees visited Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital, Sungai Petani on 22th August 2011. The event was held as part of our Company’s Corporate Service Responsibility activities and to share the joy of the Hari Raya festivity with the sick community.
The hospital staff’s has ushered us & leading us to visit the patients at the pediatric ward, the orthopedic ward (male & female), those patients at the wards has been handed with a bag of gift and a packet of “Duit Raya”.
We have had extended our “speedy recovery” message to all those patients and wishing those Muslim patients an early “Selamat Hari Raya”.
All too soon, it was time to leave, after the group photograph with the Hospital Administrator, we bade goodbye to the hospital

Company’s Muslim staff and managerial staff have been invited to a Berbuka and Beramal Ramadhan Buffet dinner at Sunway Carnival Conventional Centre (SCCC), Prai on 05/08/2011.
The staff break the fast or ‘Berbuka Puasa” together. It gives opportunities to non Muslim staff that participates to understand about Muslim cultures and beliefs. Total 52 persons had attended the buffet dinner whereby traditional malay food is served.
