Santa Is Coming
Christmas is the time to party. United Sweethearts Garment Sdn Bhd held a party on 23 December, 2010 to celebrate Christmas early. Mr. Samy dressed in Santa Custom and gave candies to cheer up the Christmas spirit. Mr. Gyng and Mr. Stng help in serving the finely roasted turkey.
The program includes Christmas carol singing – Silent Night and play Magic Chair and Blow Balloon games. Congratulation to Ms Janice Chang for being the winner for Magic Chair game and Mr. Raymond becomes the winner of Blow balloon game.

MIM-MATAC Graduation 2010
The graduation ceremony saw 35 graduates receiving their scrolls for the MIM-MATAC Professional Diploma in Textile and Apparel Management in Evergreen Laurel Hotel on 11/12/2010 in view of a full audience of professors, Directors, proud parents, families, colleagues and friends.
Out of 35, 16 graduates is from United Sweethearts Garment Sdn Bhd of branch Sungai Bakap and Sungai Petani. This diploma consists of 8-modules program which is conducted using a combination of lectures, group discussions, case studies, individual and group work and stretch over a period of nine months.
Kang Lee Goay is the recipient of this year’s Dato Ali Award for Overall Modules Best Performance.
Graduation with distinction is awarded to candidates score over average 70 and the recipient are Kang Lee Goay and Chong Chui Loon.

And Graduation with merit is awarded to Raymond Raj, Mary Singaram, Thila Vathy, Khor Siew Siew, Ng Soong Ti, Fatilah Binti Saad, Tan Lee Teng, Lim Hooi Keng, Teoh Peng Peng, Yap Poh Suan, Christina A/P Joseph Vincent, Lim Soo Suan, Lim Kim Hong and Tang Ee Ling.

Go Green, Save Life, Business Sustainability
Our actions today, may save our lives tomorrow.
The Go Green Project is an initiative of Environmental Safety and Health Committee to contribute to the reduction and mitigation of environmental concerns in our world today and create a more sustainable environment for our future.
We aim to enlighten ourselves on the environmental problem and to look at different practical ways that we could help in reducing the problem in our immediate organization society, this we hope to achieve through Campaign, Group discussions, Programs, Workshops and etc. We are aim to collaborate with several organizations where necessary on environmental sustainability issues, most particularly in capacity building, and Knowledge transfer.
Due to that, as a 1st program in ‘GO Green Project’, ESH Committee with 40 persons joined from USG Sungai Bakap & USG Sungai Petani had started a mission to bring the ‘Go Green Project’ spirit to the 242 meters high from a sea level, the area where is a ‘Light House of Muka Head’ is located (Penang National Park). Although it is a rained at the early of the day, the trekking start from the Telok Bahang to Monkey Beach had been completed in a 2 hour’s. We also had been guide with 2-nature guide from Penang Nature Society that’s En. Budin & En. Sabri.
A few members’ looks tired and exhausted when reached at Monkey Beach but however the satisfaction expresses from their face and act. The rest had continue the trek to the lighthouse and took about 1 hour’s to reach it from Monkey Beach and trek down back to Monkey Beach for the buffet lunch near the beach (a nice view).
We had boating to Pantai Keracut and boating experience shall not been forget in this journey. We had been bringing to Meromictic Lake which the water density of the river and sea are different in this lake. After that, we continue walk to Turtle Conservation Center and wish to look a ‘Big Turtle’ but really disappointed cause there are only a small turtle. However, we appreciate it because at least we had seen a real ‘Mr. Penyu’ in this life. We’re boating back and reached at the Telok Bahang jetty at 0530 pm.
Taman Negara Pulau Pinang sends out a strong message about sustainable development. Just as Muka Head’s antique lighthouse still guides ships safely to port, Taman Negara Pulau Pinang shines like a beacon of hope for preserving our natural heritage.

Superstar Nite 2010 Sg. Petani
Superstar Nite 2010 Sungai Petani is organized on October 01, 2010 by URC.
This time, there are 13 contestants for Sing and Dance competition and 23 contestants for Eco Dress competition. After seeing the eco dress competition of USG Sungai Bakap, 23 contestant register for Eco Dress Competition instead of just only 2 contestants registered earlier.
For Sungai Bakap, it is a mini concert but for Sungai Petani, it is a mini fashion shows. Audiences are excited and amazed with the craft-wood goes into the eco dress that are being presented.
The 3 winners for both competitions which are Sing & Dance Competition and Eco Dress Competition of Sungai Bakap had also being invited to do performance there.
40 lucky draw of Superstar Nite 2010 souvenirs are given out.

Superstar Nite 2010 Sg. Bakap
URC organized Superstar Nite 2010 in Sungai Bakap which turned up to be a mini concert for employee USG Sungai Bakap. The outstanding event starts with dinner from 6.00pm till 6.30pm and employees performance begin after that.
This event consists of two competitions which is Sing and Dance Competition with 23 contestant and Eco Dress Competition with 10 contestants. Eco Dress Competition contestants use all recycle materials to design their clothes without using any fabric.

For memory of this unforgettable event, 50 lucky draw of Superstar Nite 2010 souvenirs are given out.
The audience response to the performance has been overwhelming. Although it was raining during the event, but it did not cool down the atmosphere. The audiences was singing and dancing along with the performance of contestants.
All employees are having fun and unwilling to see it end at 9.30pm.

Hospital Sungai Bakap Visit
The holy month of Ramadan this year brought much cheers and joys for the patients at Sungai Bakap Hospital. URC organized a hospital visit to Hospital Sungai Bakap. Mr. Tang and Ms. Goh lead 13 employees to distribute ‘duit raya’ and goodies bag to 55 patients in the hospital.
Ketua Pengarah Hospital, Dr. Fauziah Hanifiah great us and appreciate our visit. She mentioned that the patient will be very happy to see community still cares for them.
URC organized an orphanage visit to True Light Vision Center, Sungai Petani at 4th September 2010. The center had been built since year 1998 whereby about 50 orphans from the age 2-19 are staying in the center.
A total of 51 employees join the visit. The event starts with wishing praying by Mr. Satya. Orphans welcome us warmly with handshake and greeting. Balu, Mathu, KSTeoh and etc help to distribute goodies and gift to each orphan. A light breakfast is served with friend bihun, carry puff and doughnut.
All the orphans are joyed in the games competition such as faster water drinker, transfer cucumber with leg, fill water in bottle with spoon and blow balloon and break it. Prizes are given to the winner for each game.
Ms Goh handed out the red packet to all the orphans and a set of Kentucky Fried Chicken is served with dessert Ice-cream as their lunch. The visit end at around 2pm and all the employees feel consoled as having an opportunity to perform a good deed.
Best wishes for all orphans and hope to see Mr. Satya’s dream come true – First University Graduate orphan from the center.

Happy Retirement Home Charity Visit
55 member of URC did a charity visit to Happy Retirement Home, a old folks home in Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang. The activities starts with the opening speech by URC Chairman and Mdm Khor, the founder of the old folk’s home and a cheque presentation is carried out. The donation is a joint contribution from the company and employees. Each member have carried a goodies bag and give to old folk personally.
To lighten the burden of Mdm Khor, we form up volunteer team to do house keeping for the place which are headed by Mr. STNg and Ms SSKhor. We conducts rambutan tree cutting to clear out the old branches, removes wild plants at ku cai farms, tights up the dropping cables, clears wild plants from the metal fences, and cooks Bihun and Char Tuah Pan for old folks. The old folks is served with cai kueh and Char Tuah Pan for their lunch. All old folks are delighted when Ms. Goh handed out red packets to them.

ESH Health Week Sungai Bakap
ESH and ERT committee organized Health Week Campaign from 2-6 August 2010 with 800 USG’s employees at Sungai Bakap plant. This campaign provides awareness to employees to adopt healthier life style thru its campaign activities.
The campaign activities inclusive of Morning Exercise, Blood Donation, Woman Cancer Talk, Drawing and Coloring Contest, Ping Pong Match, Pap Smears Test and Health Communication (ERT, Smoking Hazard, Food Safety, Chemical Hazard). With generosity and consideration of the community, employees donated 88 bottles of blood to Seberang Perai Hospital.
Living healthy isn’t just about weight loss, it’s about moving your body and feeding it good things for healthy and longevity – Eat Smart and Play Hard.

The event was filled with a spirit of encouragement as Mr. Tang spoke to employees about the loyalties, performance of employees with the company and how the company had been growth since it first established. He also praised the employees children for getting good result in the examination.
Employees that have served the company for periods of ten, fifteen, twenty and twenty five years for year 2008 and 2009 were then individually honored with pewter plate and cash (25 years) as a token of appreciation from the organization.
Employees children whose scores good result in UPSR, PMR and SPM for more than 5A was also awarded in the same event.
